Abstract

Sociolinguistic and Psycholinguistic Analysis of Proper Names

The article substantiates the need to apply a socio- and psycholinguistic approach to the study of onyms, which allows a deeper understanding of the problems of linguistic consciousness in the process of processing linguistic knowledge. The study is illustrated by examples of the analysis of precedent names in various discourses. The examples presented in the article demonstrate that proper names are not merely nominative units but also elements carrying emotional and ideological connotations. Their perception is closely linked to individual and collective value systems. This, in turn, underscores the necessity of examining onomastic analyses not only from a linguistic perspective but also from psychological and sociological aspects. The socio- and psycholinguistic approach involves the study of not only mental representations, but also value orientations and emotions necessary to determine the intention of the text. The difficulty lies in the fact that the same intentional aspect of the text with the same name can cause different emotions in communicants, depending on their value orientation.
