In the academic literature on the National Economic Thought, it is widely believed that the National Economic Thought emerged in the Ottoman Empire in the last quarter of the 19th century and found a field of application in the early 20th century. The most important reason for this belief is that the historical conditions and the theoretical background that led to the emergence of the National Economy movement have not been analysed with sufficient care in the works that have dominated the field. One of the clearest indications of this situation is that although the connection of Akyiğitzade Musa, one of the most important thinkers of the National Economy movement, with the German Historiographical School, whose ideas he was influenced by, is mentioned, why Akyiğitzade adopted the views of the German Historiographical School or why he was a pro-National Economy author has not been made an object of research. In order to make a more realistic analysis of the idea of National Economy, it is necessary to understand the historical accumulation and theoretical background that enabled the development of the ideas of the economist who gave it its original shape. For this purpose, this study will try to analyse the historical process and the theoretical framework that influenced the course of development of Akyiğitzade's ideas.
