COVİD 19 PANDEMİSİ DÖNEMİNDE YAŞANAN ÖĞRENME KAYIPLARINA İLİŞKİN TÜRKİYE’DEN İLKOKUL ÖĞRETMENLERİ VE YÖNETİCİLERİNİN GÖRÜŞLERİ

The COVID-19 pandemic has deeply affected education systems around the world and caused significant disruptions in education and training processes. Especially for primary school students, the challenges of distance education have negatively affected the development of academic and social skills. The purpose of this study is to examine in depth the views of primary school teachers and administrators from Turkey about the learning losses experienced during the Covid 19 pandemic. It also aims to evaluate the difficulties faced by teachers and administrators in this process, the solution strategies they applied, and the measures that can be taken in case similar situations are encountered in the future. In this qualitative study, the case study method was used. The study group of the research consists of 12 classroom teachers and school administrators working in different schools in Ankara, Turkey in the 2024-2025 academic year. A semi-structured interview form was used as a data collection tool and the data were obtained from interviews with the participants. The data were analyzed by content analysis method. As a result of the study, it was understood that the disruptions in the education system during the COVID-19 pandemic caused significant learning losses, especially for primary school students. According to the research findings, the main reasons for these losses were determined to be the decrease in student participation, technological infrastructure deficiencies, measurement and evaluation problems, and difficulties in adapting course content to distance education. Various recommendations were made in line with the results.
