The Turkish nation, as an ancient nation, has created many cultural accumulations throughout history. One of the fundamental elements of this accumulation is proverbs. Disasters, in particular, have played a decisive role in the historical journey of the Turkish people. One of the reasons behind the migration from Turkestan to Anatolia is drought and other disasters. Therefore, the Turkish people's survival and survival to this day have been largely shaped by the effects of migration and disasters. During this process, every difficulty and disaster encountered has been transformed into a teaching in the collective memory of the society through proverbs and idioms. It can be stated that disasters are generally seen as a kind of test, rebirth or a manifestation of fate in Turkish culture. Therefore, disaster-related proverbs, examining a people's collective accumulation of natural events and their ways of coping with these events from a sociological perspective, allow for important inferences to be made on social norms, values and social psychology. In this study, the role of proverbs, which have an important place in the development of disaster awareness in societies, in the preservation of Turkish culture and in the transfer from generation to generation, was discussed. In this context, it was emphasized that proverbs contribute to the formation of a national consciousness. The proverbs used in the study were carefully selected from among those that contain disaster themes and are compatible with certain educational objectives. In this study, while determining the determinant role of proverbs as a doctrine in Turkish culture, the elements of oral culture and proverb and idiom dictionaries were subjected to content analysis as a method.
