ABSTRACT Our study, which is also our doctoral thesis topic, “Altunkopru place names”, has been prepared here as a part of this study as an information presentation. Religious rituals and related elements are very important for Altunkopru, which has a strong history in terms of faith. Therefore, places of worship, lodges and dervish lodges, cemeteries, religious orders, mullahs, seyyids have always been in the foreground and value has been attributed to them among the people. Altunkopru is located in an exceptional place due to its historical location. In the past, it was known as a center of attraction where the heart of trade beat with its harbor and bridges. Today, it has lost its old glory and charm due to various political, sociological and ethnic reasons. It has a historical past dating back to the Assyrian and Babylonian periods and continues to have geopolitical importance in terms of the region today. Due to its long historical past, cemeteries and cemetery culture are one of the remarkable cultural heritages in the region.
