NİĞDE MASİFİ’Nİ ÇEVRELEYEN HAVZALARDA MENDERES OLUŞUMLARININ KÖKENİ

Abstract: In this study, the geomorphological developments of the bends and meanders seen in the river flow channels, located in the main collector basin areas of the rivers draining the Niğde massif extending in the NNE-SSW direction, east of Niğde settlement center, were evaluated in a digital environment. The circular diameter, radius, arc length, meander width and frequency of the river meanders extending on the main collector basin bases determined from the raster and vector maps covering the Niğde Massif and its surroundings, as well as their relationships with each other, were interpreted through numerical data. In the study, the effects of topographic elements on the stream flow channel and their role in bend-meander development were tried to be determined. In addition, the effects of the regional tectonic regimes affecting the depression areas surrounding the massif on the flow channels were investigated. The reasons for the differences in the character of the drainage coming from the massif to the depression floors in the main basin flow channel and in other basins have been revealed. In addition, geomorphological units such as the flow channels settled in the basins where they flow and are buried, terrace systems followed at the edges of the beds, alluvial cones and fans extending on the basin floor on the slopes, bedrock outcrops, massive obstacles directing the flow on the valley-basin floor, and slope fractures have played very important roles in the development of meander-bends. Although the Karasu depression is the widest basin floor in the west of the massif, the appearance it presents on the alluvial fill area shows that the lithological difference between the masses rising in the east and west is important. It is seen that the effects of structural and regional tectonism come to the fore in the Ecemiş Depression in the east. It is thought that the volcanic activity in the flow channels connecting to the Sultan Sazlığı basin in the north are the reflections of the tectonic activity of the Bolkar Mountains, which largely affects the region in the Toraman Stream basin, and the activity in its surrounding depression areas.
