This article highlights the introduction of artificial intelligence to humanity for the first time and its rapid integration into all fields, particularly education. It explains how AI, which was previously limited to specific industries, has made its way into schools and universities by the end of the quarter-century. Teachers have started using AI extensively for student assessment and lesson planning is analysed through examples. The article highlights the immense benefits of AI, such as freeing teachers from hours of grading, lesson planning, and information searching, while students can receive instant feedback on their written work, and these advantages are illustrated with various examples. However, the article also presents evidence-based arguments that AI has certain uncertainties and challenges that cannot be ignored. Based on information provided by teachers from different parts of the world who use AI in classrooms, the article explores both its effectiveness and some of its negative consequences. Additionally, it offers insights into how AI can be utilized in the most efficient and beneficial way.
