This article explores one of the world's oldest epics, the Epic of Bilgamish, and the scholarly debates regarding its origins. Traditional views that associate the epic exclusively with Mesopotamian culture are questioned, and evidence supporting its connection to Turkic history is presented. The article highlights important notes on the ethnic origins of the Sumerians, their language, and their culture, linking them to Turkic peoples. Additionally, the epic's name, plot structure, and epic traditions are compared with characteristics typical of Turkic epics. Through phonetic, semantic, and cultural similarities, the study provides a solid scholarly foundation for the possibility that the Epic of Bilgamish has Turkic roots.
