7. SINIF ÖZBEK COĞRAFYA KİTABINDA BİLİM TARİHİ KULLANIMI VE HAMIDULLA HASANOV

This study aims to examine the History of Science section of the Uzbekistan 7th grade Geography textbook in terms of the understandings it developed regarding science and to introduce Hamidulla Hasanvov. The Geographical Discoveries section of the book was analysed using one part of the rubric developed by Yıldız (2013) regarding the use of history of science. As a result of the study, it was determined that the names of 14 scientists were mentioned in the relevant section, that the information given in the textbook about scientists generally served the conceptual and methodological understanding of science, that only scientists who provided conceptual understanding were in the minority, and that contextual understanding was emphasized only in the introduction of a scientist. It was observed that the information about the scientist who included contextual understanding also emphasized the conceptual and methodological understandings of science. This scientist is Hamidulla Hasanov of Uzbek origin. He tried to understand the works of his predecessors and introduced them, and produced unique works in the field of Geography by benefiting from their knowledge.
