LEYLA VÜ MECNUN

Summary: In the course of his life, humans are in constant communication with living beings and objects with whom he shares his life. Throughout history, it is seen that humans communicate the most with animals than with other living beings. Humans have domesticated some animals and used them both for service and for their food needs. As a result of this relationship with animals, many words, phrases, idioms and proverbs about animals have entered the language. People have also included animals in their products and works as figures of craft and art. There are many couplets about these characteristics of animals in Fuzuli's Leylâ vü Mecnûn mesnevi. In these couplets, the poet used animals with their metaphorical meanings rather than their literal meanings. It is seen that the poet sometimes includes an animal in the text as a signifier of more than one person. Animals sometimes take place as concrete signifiers in the expression of both a positive and a negative situation. In this paper, the animals in Fuzuli's Leylâ vü Mecnûn mesnevi have been examined and evaluated in terms of these and similar situations.
