Abstract: In modern linguistics, the study of precedent units used in literary texts from the point of view of associative linguistics serves to identify specific aspects of associative thinking in the process of communication between the author and the reader. When studying a literary text in this way, the associative perception of hidden content against the background of the semantics of the text was considered important for clarifying the role of precedent units in ensuring the richness of the text’s content.
