The rhetorical value of a literary work's language, its ability to enhance the aesthetic appeal of speech, and its potential to increase artistic expressiveness are determined by how speakers of a language perceive the world in a unique way. As the central element of a literary text, the metaphor is more active than other artistic devices, shaping the creative and emotional impact of the work and ensuring its overall attractiveness. A metaphor, as a widely used linguistic and poetic expressive device in all cultures, serves to shape the reader's perception of a literary text and to reveal the figurative thinking characteristic of a particular nation. Moreover, the rhetorical value of a literary work’s language, its ability to enhance the expressiveness of speech, and its potential to increase artistic impact are determined by the way speakers of a language perceive the world in a unique manner. As the central element of a literary text, metaphor is more dynamic than other artistic devices, shaping the creative and emotional effect of the work and contributing to its overall appeal. A metaphor is shaped by the socio-cultural beliefs and attitudes of a particular culture. Therefore, a cognitive approach to metaphor translation allows us to view metaphors as cognitive constructs that conceptually represent people's experiences, attitudes, and practices. The article examines metaphor as a linguistic phenomenon that reflects a nation's cultural characteristics and worldview from a linguocognitive and linguocultural perspective. The national and cultural features of cognitive metaphors in the Uzbek language, as well as the challenges of their reproduction in translation, are analyzed using the French translation of the Uzbek writer Abdulhamid Cholpon’s novel “Night and Day”. Additionally, similarities and differences in the ways of thinking between Uzbek and French speakers are identified.
