Abstract The Kazakh language is one of the Turkic languages, possessing unique characteristics and a rich, expressive nature. Throughout the millennia-long history of Turkic peoples, their languages have undergone various changes and passed through different stages of development. This article examines the historical role of the Kazakh language within the Turkic language system, as it has undergone numerous sub-ethnic processes spanning several centuries and has followed its own path of formation. It is unsurprising that studying any ethnic language requires a deep understanding of the nature of the respective ethnic group. Merely knowing the internal linguistic laws is not sufficient to fully grasp the original nature of any ethnic language, as its fundamental roots are directly linked to the culture, history, religion, and way of life of the ethnic groups that have spoken it for centuries. The language of that time, which played a foundational role in the ethnogenesis of the Kazakh people, contributed to the formation of the nation, and was used by tribes and communities, is considered the historical basis of the modern Kazakh language
