The "sun" cosmonym is a shared astronomical term within the celestial world, universally recognized by humanity. Each nation, however, perceives and understands this common world in its unique way, creating a linguistic image of its national worldview. Understanding each nation's uniqueness through its language is a crucial issue in contemporary linguistic communication. Folk cosmonyms include ancient names, which along with the derived linguistic units, are subjects of linguistic study. This research aims to reveal the linguocultural and semantic features of the concept of the "sun" in English and Kazakh, considering it as an indicator of national mentality and worldview. To achieve this, the task was set to comparatively study the linguocultural features of the concept of "sun" in the non-related Kazakh and English languages. At the level of the linguistic image of the world, the cosmonymic system has not been widely explored in comparative-typological terms. The research findings related to revealing the semantic features of the "sun" cosmonym in Kazakh and English cultures will significantly impact the theoretical and practical development of the anthropocentric direction of cosmonymy, a relatively new field in onomastics. This study will provide new insights in semasiology and linguocultural studies, emphasizing the value of contemporary research. The results and conclusions of the article can serve as supplementary teaching material in university courses on lexicology, semasiology, onomastics, and linguocultural studies.
