The article discusses the issue of translating jokes from a Kazakh-language comedy film into Russian and developing subtitles. Humorous units from the film "Bride" were chosen as the object of the research topic. The authors aim to identify verbal means and methods in the process of translating Kazakh jokes into Russian in a comedy film within the framework of the situational translation model. Having analyzed the definitions given to humor, the authors create their own classification of ways of translating units of humor, and then consider the features of translating units of humor in audiovisual texts on the example of the film "Bride". As a result of the work, the authors propose their own classification of translation strategies (cultural adaptation, substitution, literal translation, skipping) when translating units of humor and apply it and specific units of humor within the framework of this film to the translation strategy. The results of the study can be used in the field of theory and practice of audiovisual translation, as well as in translation lessons.
