KIRGIZ ATASÖZLERİNDE AİLE VE AKRABA ANLAYIŞI

Humankind has developed various methods to preserve knowledge permanently for thousands of years. Before the invention of writing, communication relied entirely on oral culture. In this process, proverbs, which are short and easy-to-memorize expressions, played a significant role in passing emotions and thoughts from generation to generation. The family is a fundamental building block for the development, socialization, preservation, and continuation of society into the future. Playing a crucial role in preserving cultural heritage and passing it on to new generations, the family particularly ensures the continuity of oral culture. Certain beliefs and values regarding the formation and continuity of the family are passed down from generation to generation through proverbs. Proverbs hold a significant place in Kyrgyz Turkish, which has a rich oral culture. This report examines the proverbs related to the concept of family and kinship found in the Kyrgyz proverbs compiled by K.K. Yudahin while preparing the "Kyrgyz-Russian" dictionary. This dictionary contains nearly 2,000 Kyrgyz proverbs. The Kyrgyz proverbs in this dictionary were published as a separate book in 1997 in Bishkek under the title “Poslovitsy i Pogovorki Kirgizskogo Naroda: Iz Sobraniya Akademika K.K. Yudahina”.
