This research examines the relationship between archaeology and Turkish music in its historical and cultural dimensions. It is emphasized that archaeology helps us understand the lives and artistic understanding of past societies by examining the remains of ancient civilizations. In the study, the historical development of Turkish music was examined in the light of archaeological findings and in this context, archaeological remains related to music from the Sumerian, Hun, Göktürk, Uyghur and Seljuk periods were investigated. Musical instruments and cuneiform tablets found in the Sumerian period, the importance given to military music by the Huns, the instruments such as kopuz and drums of the Göktürks, the musician figures depicted in the frescoes of the Uyghurs and the presence of musical instruments in miniatures from the Seljuk period show that Turkish music has a deep-rooted tradition.
