Chagatai Turkish is a language that emerged as a spoken and written language between the 15th and 20th centuries; it is a dialect that gave way to Uzbek Turkish in the 19th century. The aim of our study is to examine certain vocabulary items in the mesnevi called Sedd-i İskenderî, which has the characteristics of Chagatai Turkish, and to give their usage in Uzbek Turkish. These vocabulary items are vocabulary items related to astronomy, flowers and music. The meanings of the vocabulary items are given, exemplified with the couplets in which they are included in the mesnevi, and their usage in Uzbek Turkish is also shown. 11 vocabulary items related to astronomy have been identified. When evaluated etymologically, 5 Arabic, 2 Turkish and 3 Persian origin words have been identified. No change in meaning has been found in the Uzbek Turkish equivalents of the concepts identified in the work. 9 vocabulary items related to flowers have been identified. When evaluated etymologically, 9 Persian origin words have been identified. 15 vocabulary items related to music have been identified. 5 words of Persian, 8 Arabic and 1 Mongolian origin were identified.
