Özet

Peyami Safa, one of the most important representatives of the Republican Period, brought a different criticism to Eastern and Western culture with his novel Fatih-Harbiye. In this study, I tried to analyze the text with a place-oriented reading by taking Gaston Bachelard's Poetics of Space. By classifying the places, I tried to analyze the objects and people belonging to the places under these headings. In this study I made on the axis of Gaston Bachelard, I benefited from text / content analysis in qualitative research techniques. Since spatial science is a sub-branch of geography-centered reading, I also touched on geography-centered reading. There has not yet been a comprehensive study that touches on Bachelard's poetics of space in the novel Fatih Harbiye. It can be thought that such a study will be useful in literary sociology and place-centered readings.

Abstract

Cumhuriyet Dönemi’nin en önemli temsilcilerinden olan Peyami Safa, yazdığı Fatih-Harbiye romanıyla Doğu ve Batı kültürüne farklı bir eleştiri getirmiştir. Bu çalışmada Gaston Bachelard’ın Mekânın Poetikasını ele alarak, mekân odaklı bir okumayla metni incelemeye çalıştım. Mekânları sınıflandırarak, mekânlara ait eşyaları ve şahısları bu başlıklar altında çözümlemeye çalıştım. Gaston Bachelard ekseninde yaptığım bu çalışmada nitel araştırma tekniklerinde metin/içerik analizinden faydalandım. Mekân bilimi, coğrafya merkezli okumanın alt dalı olduğundan coğrafya merkezli okumaya da değindim. Mekân biliminin insan psikolojisi üzerindeki etkisine de dikkat çekmeye çalışarak Fatih Harbiye romanına yeni bir bakış açısı getirmeyi amaçladım. Fatih Harbiye romanında Bachelard’ın mekân poetikasına değinen derli toplu bir çalışma henüz yapılmamıştır. Böyle bir çalışmanın edebiyat sosyolojisi ve mekân merkezli okumalarda faydalı olacağı düşünülebilir.
